Chris & Allison's Adventure
Osaka Castle

October 10, 2001

We spent most of the day at Osaka Castle (also called Osaka-jo). It has been rebuilt and renovated and now it is a museum. The top floor is an observation deck where you can overlook Osaka.

There are two main areas of the Castle property. The outer court and the inner court. The actual castle is located in the inner court while many buildings, gardens, and the remains of towers are located in the outer court.

Our trip worked out well enough for us to be able to see the Castle in both daylight and nighttime.

In the outer court we happened across a Kendo and Martial Arts practice gymnasium. We were able to watch the practice from a visitors location. We were required to take our shoes off and kneel at the railing. It was very interesting to watch them practice.
