Tsugaike Ski Resort
Hakuba, Nagano, March 18-20, 2002
We had a fabulous time on our ski trip to Nagano in March! We started out in Osaka to catch the night bus at 9pm and arrived at the Tsugaike ski resort at 6am! Our night ride wasn't too bad, we had neck pillows and eye covers, so that helped a LOT!
Although the bus was filled with young people, the whole ride was VERY quiet and everyone kept to themselves and were not distracting or irritating. This is definitely a reflection of the Japanese character.
We registered at the resort, got our skiis fitted, then hit the slopes by 9am. It took us a while to get comfortable on our skiis, but soon we were trying all the different courses and went back to our hotel room at 4pm, extremely exhausted.

The view was absolutely stunning. It really made us think about God's wonderful creation and the Lord's majesty. We were very thankful that we were able to be in such a beautiful place. We were truly blessed to have had this opportunity.

At 6pm the first night, we were called down to the dining room to have our dinner for the evening which was included in the price of our stay. It was a traditional Japanese meal, not sure what to call it, but it was pork and vegetables and it was delicious.
We caught the bus back at 6pm to return to Osaka, and the ride home was MUCH longer... we stopped for a 3 hour rest-hour!!! We got back to Osaka at 6am and were home by 7am. Luckily, it was our day off, so we went straight to sleep.

Our second day skiing, we found ourselves feeling much more brave and confident on our skiis, especially Chris! We tried out some new slopes higher up the mountain, and Chris even tried some ski-jumps! Thankfully, we had no broken bones :)
